Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2021 - The perfect SOUNDTRACK (what I would put on it )

With all the excitement surrounding the upcoming remaster of Tony Hawks Pro skater 1 & 2 for current gen consoles, I was reflecting on its highly acclaimed soundtrack at the time which helped shape the music that I’m into today.

From those games I discovered artists from the likes of Rage against the machine, AFI, Run DMC and many more. So I got to thinking - as perfect as that soundtrack was, If I could curate the songs for its next gen releases then what would I put on it? It would have to satisfy audience in their late 20's - 30's , OG skaters IRL, as well as welcome newcomers and younger audiences who have maybe never played a good Skateboarding game?

The music I chose are split between my personal liking as to what I would skate to, as well as artist/music that was celebrated by the skate culture back then as well as modern ones that I feel carried its spirits the last decade. Also, heads up that late 90’s – early 2000’s are now considered to be “classics” (don’t I feel old!), so as much as I love 80's music I did not include anything from that era or earlier.

Take a look at is a chart made by the Punk Rock MBA who sparked this idea for me to create my own playlist. This is how they categorized each music in the old games as to have a good balance of different type of songs, modern and classic. I used this as my template when curating mine. And after careful deliberation and arguments with myself, I was able to narrow it to 40 songs.
